Vinkeveen, 04 October 2016 – Almost 7 years after the two parties closed their former hotel at that same spot, the Caransa Group and Apollo Hotels & Resorts announced their renewed collaboration with the opening of a hotel at the Vinkeveense Plassen (Lakes of Vinkeveen). As from March 2017, the Apollo Hotel Vinkeveen-Amsterdam will welcome its guests in an unusual building.
Anybody driving along the Groenlandsekade a number of years ago could not possibly have envisaged that the old buildings would make way for the spacious, modern and above all tranquil ambience that the new complex exudes. The hotel has truly risen like a Phoenix from the ashes.
Developer, the Caransa Group is, in the words of Director Maurits Caransa, more than delighted with the unusual project: “When we acquired the original building at the beginning of the century, we already had the vision to develop a new hotel on the plot. The economic crisis combined with the widening of the A2 implied that a new development wasn’t an attractive option at that time. We did totally demolish the old buildings in the early days and we prepared the land for building.
In the autumn of last year, we commenced the construction work and the shell of the building was recently completed. Along with the operator, we are now going to finish off and fit out the hotel”.
This operator is an old acquaintance of Caransa. Willem-Jan van den Dijssel, co-founder and management board member of Apollo Hotels: “We have worked with the Caransa Group in Vinkeveen for several years and have always been extremely satisfied with the collaboration. My personal relationship with the family even goes back to the 1980s. Therefore, when the opportunity recently presented itself, the deal was quickly closed”.
According to Van den Dijssel, the hotel has a sleek design, but once inside guests will be surprised by the relaxed, contemporary and discerning interior. The Apollo Hotel Vinkeveen-Amsterdam will open its doors on the 1st of March 2017 at 4-star level and will offer 88 spacious rooms and suites. There will be a unique nautically themed restaurant, an exclusive coffee bar and a spacious waterside terrace. Pleasure boats can moor at the hotel’s own jetty. As from the fourth quarter of 2017, it will be possible to hold conferences for up to 400 people in the adjacent building.
